Trane began as a family business started by James Trane, a Norwegian immigrant who opened his own plumbing shop in La Crosse, WI, in 1885 and incorporated Trane in 1913. Trane became the air conditioner pioneer on 1931 with a radical and unproven idea of using technology to give people relief from summer heat. Today Trane has become the leader in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry, employing a whooping 29,000 women and men who work for the Trane family. It’s an extended global family that works in more than 400 locations spread over 100 countries worldwide, including 29 production facilities.
Trane’s customer satisfaction ratings of 93 percent consistently earned by our Trane and American Standard brand residential systems are supported by a nationwide network of 10,000 contractors and dealers as well as 100 independent and company-owned distributors.
Trane constantly upgrades the skills of their already highly trained people to stay on top of emerging technical priorities. That’s why Trane today has more than 680 engineers certified as Accredited Professionals under the U.S. Green Building Council’s prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Trane is also proud to have 40 engineers specializing in environmental issues and they look forward to doubling the number of both groups of skilled professionals over the next five years.
