Standard Natural Draft
Standard Natural Draft water heaters typically come in sizes ranging from 40-75 US gallons. Depending on the size chosen these water heaters will be able to keep up with most any domestic demand. Standard water heaters are often “twinned” for even more hot water. In a standard Natural Draft heater the water is heated and stored waiting your consumption. Standard water heaters are the most common water heater in circulation today because of the affordable cost to install, but unfortunately they are also the least efficient. These heaters use a chimney to exhaust the harmful products of combustion.
Power Vented
Power Vented water heaters typically come in sizes ranging from 40-75 US gallons. Depending on the size chosen these water heaters will be able to keep up with most any domestic demand. Power Vented water heaters are often “twinned” for even more hot water. In Power Vented water heaters the water is heated and stored waiting your consumption. Power Vented heaters are gaining popularity for their ability to be installed in locations away from the standard chimney as power vented heaters use plastic pipe for venting and can be vented through the side of the house.
Condensing Power Ventred
Condensing power vented heaters operate at efficiencies exceeding 90%. Condensing Power Vented water heaters typically come in sizes ranging from 40-75 US gallons. Depending on the size chosen these water heaters will be able to keep up with most any domestic demand. In Condensing Power Vented water heaters the water is heated and stored waiting your consumption. Condensing Power Vented heaters are typically side wall vented so there is no need for a traditional chimney.
In-Direct
In-direct water heaters use the heat for another source, such as a boiler, to transfer to the water in the holding tank. In-direct heaters typically come in sizes ranging from 40-75 US gallons. Depending on the size chosen these water heaters will be able to keep up with most any domestic demand. Because there is no fuel being burned to heat the water there is also no need for a chimney or venting of any kind.
Water on Demand
Water on demand systems are in essence a high output boiler. There is no storage tank to create “stand-by losses” and water is only heated as required. Water on Demand units typically are small enough to mount on a wall freeing up valuable floor space and with efficiencies exceeding 95% it reduces the carbon footprint.
Electric
Electric water heaters are not very popular in urban Alberta. Our low cost of gas and the higher cost of electricity make this an unpopular choice. However there are installations where it is much more economical to install electric. Often we see townhouse owners switching to an electric tank because of condo regulations.
Whichever style or capacity of tank you chose, Friesen’s is here to make your installation a success. Call for your appointment today.
